Virgin Islands National Park Back in Business

We’re happy to hear the news that the 16-day federal government shutdown is over. That means things should be getting back to normal for all of St. John’s beaches and hiking trails. (We were tired of seeing those CLOSED signs everywhere — even on the Virgin Islands National Park website.)

VI National Park Reopens

Virgin Islands National Park reopens after 16-day federal government shutdown.

National Parks across the country have been shut down for most of October because of the mess in Washington.  And while St. John’s beaches reopened last week (tough to close us down completely, since our island is two-thirds National Park!), park offices and facilities were closed, along with some trails.

We’re glad park staffers are back on the job.

Anyone ready for a hike?
